Mazen Hamdan

Biography and Future Vision:

Mazen Hamdan, born in Isifya village on Mount Carmel in 1997 and currently based in Haifa, is a versatile musician and activist. His musical education includes studies in music theory and synthesis at Just Music College in Haifa and counterpoint music at Masaha Center, also in Haifa. He furthered his artistic education with acting and theatre at LP School for Acting in Tel Aviv and took a storytelling course with Noam Meiri at AlManjam in Haifa. Additionally, he completed a community organization course with Ahel Foundation.

In 2019, Mazen was a guitarist for Sabah El Full talk show on Makan TV, where he worked as a sound assistant too. He was also a bassist for the metal band Exogami, where he contributed to three recorded tracks and several live performances in Haifa.

Mazen played, recorded, and performed as a guitarist in “Angles Meeting,” a collaborative performance with Marwan Halabi that features music, singing, and a blend of contemporary and Sufi dancing. This ongoing project has seen performances in Bethlehem, Ramallah, Jerusalem, the Sufi Festival, Amman, and Dalyet El Carmel.

In 2021, he joined the band Darbet Shams as a bassist, contributing to their album “Shu Bedurr El Amal” and performing in various cities including Haifa, Nazareth, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Ramallah, the Golan Heights, Amman, Berlin, and Munich.

Mazen was involved in the play “World Management” as a guitarist and bassist in collaboration with Al Haneen Theatre and Al Kasaba Theatre in 2022. The following year, he performed in the musical play “One Way,” written and directed by Carlos Gharzuzi, as part of the Khashabi Theatre's opening season in Haifa.

During his teenage years, Mazen acted in five different plays at AlNiqab Theatre in Isifya from 2013 to 2017 and continues to work as a puppeteer and puppet operator for three children’s plays at the same theatre.

He is also an active member of “Urfod,” a movement that offers legal support and services to Palestinian Druze youth who refuse compulsory military service.
